Is it really worth taking a toddler to Dollywood? Absolutely! While a toddler or preschooler may not be able to experience all the thrills Dollywood has to offer, there is more than enough fun to make an incredible day for any age.

For young visitors, Wildwood Grove is a great place to start the day. Treetop Tower and Frogs & Fireflies have no height requirement and are sure to produce toddler smiles. If your child is at least 36 inches tall, he or she can also test out the Great Tree Swing, Black Bear Trail, and The Mad Mockingbird.

Cooling off in Wildwood Creek.

On a hot day, I suggest you bring a change of clothes and let your toddler wade in Wildwood Creek. Every kid loves trying to jump across, and those dry clothes will come in handy when they don’t quite make the leap! Before getting dry, head down to the Firehouse Fun Yard and let your little one try their hand as a fireman.

Craftsman’s Valley offers lots of activities for our younger friends. You and your toddler can check out the Robert F. Thomas Chapel and the bald eagles at the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary, and maybe even catch a show about Dollywood’s birds at the Wings of America Theater. Young children always enjoy watching the blacksmith at work, and for an additional fee your child can go gem mining, pearl picking, or even dip their own candle!

The Rockin’ Roadway is always a hit—what child doesn’t want to drive their own car with a radio? While in Jukebox Junction, you can pick up some Dippin’ Dots and look for the ducks that make their home in the park. You might even spot them stealing a few fries at Red’s Drive-In!

The Country Fair area is full of toddler fun. Lemon Twist, The Amazing Flying Elephants, Lucky Ducky, Piggy Parade, and Busy Bees have no height requirement, so anyone can ride these classic attractions. Brave toddlers who are at least 36 inches tall can also take a turn on Shooting Star and The Scrambler. And every little one loves the carnival games! For toddlers, I recommend the balloon pop, as everyone wins a prize and no one leaves in tears.

Frogs & Fireflies are a family favorite!

No toddler trip to Dollywood is complete without a ride on the Dollywood Express, where an authentic coal-fired steam engine will take you on a twenty-minute train ride around the park. And right near the train depot you can find the Village Carousel, which is fun for toddlers and their grown-ups.

It’s impossible to create a complete list of all the ways toddlers can enjoy Dollywood. Between the rides, snacks, sights, shops and shows, no one is too young to love the park! As an added bonus, children aged three and under are free at Dollywood, so bringing your toddler is truly a good choice all around. After all, your child may be too young to remember your day at Dollywood forever, but you can carry the memories for both of you!
